Dragon Ball FighterZ Arrives on Switch in Japan This September

Are you ready to Kamehameha your way to victory in Dragon Ball FighterZ this September? Unfortunately, you’ll only be able to do so if you have a Japanese Nintendo Switch account. The game’s debut onto the Nintendo Switch was an announcement that received little fanfare, having only been included in a small reel during Nintendo’s E3 2018 Direct Presentation. But that hasn’t stopped fans of the game (including myself) waiting eagerly for an announcement for when they can officially play it on their Switch.

The gorgeous 2D anime-fighting game is set to release in Japan on the 27th of September, so Japan fans won’t have to wait long before they can battle it out with their favorite characters from Dragon Ball. However, while some UK/US fans may be feeling disappointed at no word of a release for them, we very much doubt they’ll be waiting long. A worldwide release may, after all, only just be around the corner.

Disappointingly enough, the Switch version of Dragon Ball FighterZ will not include any of the DLC that’s been previously released for free. What does come free with the game will be the download code for the SNES game Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden. Of course, if you want some more awesome goodies then pre-ordering will reward you with playable characters Goku and Vegeta (SSGSS), so be sure not to miss out on that content if you want it.

If you’re uncertain whether this fighting game is for you, but are an avid fan of Dragon Ball then the Switch version may actually be the one for you. Included with everything else mentioned above, the Switch version will have a mode called Extreme Type, which makes pulling off the Super Moves of the characters much easier to do. Interested now?
