EA Gives Madden NFL 19 Championship Series Update, Week 2 MUT Legends

As of Saturday (Sept. 22), EA Sports provided fans several major pieces of Madden NFL 19 news. In one announcement, they gave a major update regarding this year’s Madden NFL Championship Series schedule. In addition, EA revealed who the Week 2 Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) legends are for Madden NFL 19. They are several forces from the gridiron who fans are now able to add to their Madden 19 Ultimate teams.

Madden NFL Championship Series Postponed

Saturday’s first announcement involves the Madden NFL 19 Championship Series. At EA Sports, they provided an update from the Competitive Gaming Division regarding the Championship Series Major scheduled for this year. The division indicates that they are postponing the Madden Classic to later this year. The Classic was originally scheduled to take place in Las Vegas next month.

They note that this decision was made so they can make sure this first edition of this Championship Series Major can “be the best it can be.” Details on how to register and when the event will take place will be forthcoming.

Late last month, news arrived that EA Sports was canceling three remaining “qualifier” events following the deadly Jacksonville shooting. Those particular events were scheduled for Los Angeles, Dallas, and Chantilly, Virginia, per ESPN’s report. EA CEO Andrew Wilson mentioned they would be conducting “a comprehensive review of safety protocols” for those competing and watching at these events.

EA’s newest announcement says the Jacksonville Fund is still open to help those individuals affected by the shooting in Florida. More information about the fund is available here.

Who are the Week 2 MUT Legends?

Each week, new Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) legends arrive for the game. The legends are provided with a special card highlighting an individual game in which that player excelled. This week’s legends (per EA Sports) include San Francisco 49ers fullback Mike Alstott, Baltimore Ravens left tackle Jonathan Ogden (Week 13 – 2000), and Pittsburgh Steelers left outside linebacker Kevin Greene (Week 11 – 1994).

Gamers can get the legend superstars in different ways for the Madden NFL game. For example, players may discover the full versions of these legends within Ultimate Team packs. In addition, gamers can win full versions of the legend players at the Auction House. Fans can also get the legends with lower overall ratings through packs or the Auction House and then use Power Ups as needed to boost them.
