Epic Games Punishes Pro Players For Cheating In Fortnite Tournament

Fortnite Battle Royale players are currently going through an exciting period. Season 6 is going to start in less than 48 hours, bringing a lot of new content to players. For those who enjoy watching the popular video game, Epic Games has organized Fall Skirmish, the $10 million tournament.

Recently, there has been some controversy regarding this tournament. In the opening week of Fall Skirmish, two professional players were caught cheating. Nate Hill and FunkBomb, members of Dusty Dogs team, tried to gain an advantage in an unfair way. Because of this, Epic Games punished them and suspended them from the tournament. The developer once again made it clear that Fortnite cheating will not be tolerated.

The cheating

The cheating occurred when FunkBomb was eliminated from the match. Because of the tournament rules, the player had to leave the match. However, FunkBomb watched the official Fortnite stream after leaving the game, giving Nate Hill important details about the enemies.

There was no delay on the official stream, which was a big problem in this situation as it allowed FunkBomb to give his teammate information in real time. After the incident, both players had deleted Twitch videos which proved they were cheating. Fortunately, some Fortnite players have saved these videos and uploaded them to other video sharing websites.

The punishment

Earlier today, Nate Hill announced his suspension from Fall Skirmish. “As the teammate and beneficiary, I’ll be suspended immediately from participating in all the Skirmish trials and Skirmishes until conclusion of suspension, October 11,” Nate Hill said. “Still a member of Dusty Dogs club and will remain eligible for club prizing,” the streamer added. On the other side, FunkBomb’s punishment was much worse. The player was kicked out of Dusty Dogs and is not eligible for club prizing.

Nate still believes that he should have been suspended. While it’s true that he did not initiate the cheating, it is also true that he could have stopped his teammate from doing so. The Fortnite developer has made an example of these two players. It is safe to say that no cheating will be tolerated.
