What to Expect in Black Ops Cold War’s “Rambo’s Gun Game” Mode

The ‘80s Action Heroes event is still in full-swing in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, although it is beginning to head towards it end in mid-June. The event has featured several limited-time exclusive modes, like Power Grab and Die Hardpoint. The latest of these is a variant of a classic party mode; Rambo’s Gun Game.

Black Ops Cold War: Rambo’s Gun Game

Like much in the ’80s Action Heroes event, Rambo’s Gun Game offers a more action-packed and explosive experience than normal. The fundamentals of Rambo’s Gun Game are largely unchanged from the standard version; the mode is a free-for-all and each time you score a kill, your weapon changes, progressing one-by-one up a list of twenty different weapons. The first player to score a kill with the twentieth weapon wins the match. However, if you’re killed by an enemy with a melee weapon, you get set back one weapon on the list.

The most obvious change in Rambo’s Gun Game is that the list of twenty weapons is somewhat different. Players can expect to see heavy-duty firearms like the Death Machine, RPG-7, and War Machine, along with the thematic Combat Bow. The final weapon of the list which players must score a kill with to win is the Ballistic Knife. However, that’s not the only change in this variant mode. To make everybody a bit more resilient, every player spawns with a Stimshot already equipped.

Furthermore, to keep the action moving, a Spy Plane will periodically reveal the position of all Operators. This means that staying mobile and aggressive is likely to work in your favour, rather than trying to camp sight-lines. It also means that you’ll need to stay extra attentive to your mini-map; you never know when another Operator might be coming up behind you, after a Spy Plane alerts them to your position.
