Bethesda Releases Fallout 76 Beta PC System Requirements

The Fallout 76 Beta is currently underway on the Xbox One, and will be coming to both the PC and PS4 on the 30th of October. Ahead of that date, Bethesda has now revealed the system requirements which PC players will have to meet for the game; both the minimum required specifications and their recommendations. While these specifications are nominally for the Fallout 76 Beta, they are unlikely to change before the full release in November.

The Minimum PC System Requirements for Fallout 76

  • Requires 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz / AMD Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5 GHz or equivalent
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB / AMD Radeon R9 285 2GB or equivalent
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Storage: 60 GB of free disk space

There isn’t anything particularly unusual about the minimum PC system requirements for the Fallout 76 Beta. Indeed, most gamers will likely be able to run the game without problems. Given the game’s multiplayer features, a reliable internet connection is perhaps what’s most important. The only notable difference between this version and those on the other platforms is the download size; 60 GB. The size isn’t especially unusual for a major release like Fallout 76. However, it is substantially larger than the console download size. On consoles, the Fallout 76 Beta is only 45 GB.

Fallout 76 PC Specifications Are Fairly Normal

The Recommended PC System Requirements for Fallout 76

  • Requires 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 7/8.1/10
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5 GHz
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 970 4GB / AMD R9 290X 4GB
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Storage: 60 GB of free disk space

While Fallout 76 will likely perform even better on better hardware, even the recommended system requirements aren’t extremely high. Most gaming PCs should be able to run the game without any major issues. Fallout 76 has definitely had a graphical upgrade since Fallout 4, but it’s still not as graphically intensive as other games; likely one reason why the system requirements aren’t higher. Nevertheless, this is likely to be good news for PC gamers, who shouldn’t need to worry too much about upgrading their machines to be able to run the game.

Fallout 76 will be releasing on PC in November, and the Fallout 76 Beta will start on PC on the 30th of October. Note that the game will only be available via Bethesda.net. It will not be available via Steam.
