Fallout 76 C.A.M.P. Protections Coming in Next Update

The next Fallout 76 update is due to come to the game in early May, and Bethesda is planning to bring to the game several changes to the C.A.M.P. system. One of these are the additional protections recently afforded to players in the new PvP system; the Fallout 76 C.A.M.P.s will become effectively immune to player damage until they are deemed hostile. The other change concerns the current foundation restrictions.

The Fallout 76 C.A.M.P. Protections Coming in the Next Game Update

Bethesda released information about two of the upcoming changes in the first May patch in their latest Inside the Vault blog post. In the post, the studio also revealed the next set of Survival Mode Challenge rewards, before turning to what’s coming in Patch 9. As stated above, the first of these is to bring the recent PvP changes to objects and structures; effectively removing so-called “slap damage” from the game entirely.

Fallout 76 C.A.M.P. Update Adds New Protections

“When we originally launched the Survival Beta with Patch 7.5 last month,” says Bethesda; “we made an Adventure Mode change to prevent you from taking attack damage from players you are not hostile against (a.k.a. ‘slap’ damage). At that time, we also mentioned that we planned to bring similar protections to Adventure Mode players’ C.A.M.P.s in the future.”

This change will now be coming to the game in Patch 9, which is due to launch in early May. It will prevent player attacks from damaging your C.A.M.P. structures and objects unless you or your turrets are hostile to that player. The second change for the Fallout 76 C.A.M.P. system coming in Patch 9 is that; “we’re also planning to make it easier to construct your C.A.M.P. by removing the requirement that all of a structure’s foundations must be placed on terrain.”

When this change goes into effect, players will only need to build their foundation pieces on terrain. After that, anything you build that snaps to the foundation piece won’t need to be placed on terrain. Note that this change doesn’t apply Workshops. Bethesda apparently hopes that this change will allow players to more easily place and relocate large structures.
