Far Cry 5’s Lost on Mars DLC Could Feature Some Interesting Weapons

Ubisoft still has yet to confirm any release dates for the three DLC packs they have announced for Far Cry 5. While Ubisoft has remained silent concerning their plans, several enterprising Reddit users have been digging through the game’s data files. As it turns out, they have come across some rather interesting information. While it’s impossible to know for sure whether any of this will make it to the final product, what they found appear to be placeholders for the weapons and items that will appear in the Lost on Mars DLC pack.

Lost on Mars is planned to be the second of three planned DLC releases; the first pack, entitled Hours of Darkness, will send players to war-torn Vietnam, while the third, Dead Living Zombies, is themed after classic zombie b-movies. Lost on Mars, on the other hand, is decidedly sci-fi, pitting the player against insectile aliens on the titular red planet. Ubisoft has yet to announce release dates for any of these three packs, but based on when previous Far Cry DLC has released, it’s likely that Hours of Darkness could release within the next month or two.

In the meantime, Reddit users by the names of Wa11etWarrior and CoffeeChipmunk were able to unearth some placeholder files buried in Far Cry 5. Those files list 6 weapons and 10 items which appear to be equipment planned for Lost on Mars. The placeholder names are as follows:

Lost on Mars Weapons:

  • Blaster Pistol
  • Blaster Rifle
  • Blaster Shotgun
  • Mars Flamethrower
  • Phaser Pistol
  • Power Glove

Lost on Mars Items:

  • Arachnid Pulp
  • Electro Grenade
  • Explosive Grenade
  • Force Field
  • Gravity Belt (2 Upgrades)
  • Invisibility Cloak
  • Queen Heart
  • Suit Armour (2 Upgrades)
  • Weapon Mastery

While some of the weapons are likely to be simply the sci-fi equivalent of standard weapons, some are much more interesting. It’s unclear what exactly a “Mars Flamethrower” is, for instance. The “Power Glove” on the other hand sounds like some sort of melee weapon. Given Ubisoft’s recent predilections, it’s somewhat surprising that there are no plans to include some sort of sci-fi shovel.

The first part of the Far Cry 5 season pass is the Far Cry 3 Classic Edition. It is currently unknown whether any of the DLC packs will release beforehand. The Classic Edition will be available for online download for anyone who bought the season pass or gold edition on the 29th of May. The game will then be made available to everyone on June 26th.
