FIFA 20 Release Date: Trailer Video Arrives Featuring VOLTA Football

With the EA Play event officially underway in California, the first official look at the upcoming FIFA 20 game is here. On Saturday (June 8), EA Sports released a new FIFA 20 trailer to show off an exciting new mode for the game called VOLTA football. Additionally, gamers now have a FIFA 20 release date to mark their calendars for. Here are the latest details.

FIFA 20 release date arrives with new game trailer

Based on the new FIFA 20 trailer, it appears that gamers will get a new aspect of the game involving street football. Similar to modes seen in NBA Live or NHL games from EA, the trailer shows VOLTA football with men and women heading to different street areas. The live action ultimately shifts to footage of gameplay showing off the VOLTA football mode.

The official reveal trailer for the upcoming FIFA game checks in at just over a minute and a half. Check it out in the YouTube video below.

As far as the FIFA 20 release date goes, EA has announced September 27, 2019, as the date to make your calendars for. That’s for the release of the Standard Edition of the new football game. We had previous FIFA 20 rumors based on a mysterious Amazon listing for the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

EA also announced that pre-ordering the FIFA 20 Ultimate and Champions editions will bring the game to customers three days earlier. So that means a September 24 release for customers who pre-order those two special editions.

What is FIFA 20’s VOLTA Football mode?

That’s the big reveal so far when it comes to FIFA 20. The new mode will let gamers customize their own avatars in the game with different gear, tattoos, hairstyles, and in-game celebrations. It also involves global locations to play football at, which seems similar to what the latest NHL and NBA Live games also offer.

VOLTA football will include 3v3 Rush without goalkeepers, as well as 4v4, 4v4 Rush, 5v5, and Professional Futsal as available games. These can take place in different styles of arenas with and without walls, per EA’s notes.

EA’s screenshot below shows off one of those global locations with a soccer venue atop a building amongst the Tokyo skyscrapers.

EA also mentioned different modes for FIFA 20 VOLTA football. These will include using your customized avatar player in VOLTA Story Mode or building a squad in VOLT World. Gamers will be able to take a professional team to the streets in VOLTA Kick-Off. They can also compete in an online mode known as VOLTA League. That could mean bringing the likes of Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi to the streets to show their skills.

It’s an exciting new addition to the upcoming game, but gamers will be interested to see what other aspects of the FIFA 20 title will get tweaked. That should include the FIFA 20 gameplay based on EA’s previous notes. EA Play’s FIFA 20 coverage will be streaming online as of 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT) on Saturday via the EA FIFA Twitch channel.
