FIFA 21 Cover Athlete Predictions: Five Players Who Could Be Cover Star

Many sports leagues around the world were put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. International football was no exception, but EA’s FIFA continued to provide gamers with new content for Ultimate Team and elsewhere. With the seasons pretty much ended, we can also look forward to who EA will choose to represent the next game. With that, we provide our five FIFA 21 cover athlete predictions for who will be on the front of the game.

Top FIFA 21 cover athlete picks

Kylian Mbappe – A recognizable and popular star, Kylian Mbappe has nearly 40 million followers on Instagram. However, stats mean a lot when it comes to top stars and Mbappe has those as well. He is currently tied with Wissam Ben Yedder as the leading goal scorer in Ligue 1 with 18 goals. Putting Mbappe’s smiling face on the cover would sell quite a few copies of the FIFA 21 game.

Mohamed Salah – Right now, Salah is amongst the top three goal scorers in Premier League with 16 goals. He’s also tallied six assists in his 2,246 minutes played, putting him amongst the top stars in EPL. He has risen in popularity during his career and based on a vote for cover star, fans would love to see him grace the front of FIFA 21.

Three more who could be the cover star

Robert Lewandowski – Fans were continuously trying to appeal to EA to give Lewandowski a special FUT card this past season. They went on a campaign to vote him into Team of the Year, but ultimately Cristiano Ronaldo won the popularity contest. That said, what a nice way to give many of the fans what they want? Some recognition for Lewandowski’s body of work with a FIFA 21 cover appearance.

Luka Modric – The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner may not be a fan favorite, but he’s certainly amongst the top stars in the league. The 2019 cover featured Eden Hazard and Luka Modric would provide another recognizable star player worthy of the cover. The midfielder could even end up going on an alternate cover, such as the Champions edition, similar to Virgil Van Dijk, so stay tuned.

Antoine Griezman – Speaking of Ballon d’Or awards, Griezman has never won the award. That said, he’s been a runner-up in two of the past five years, putting him amongst elite stars including Messi and Ronaldo. Those guys have both been on a FIFA cover or two, so maybe it’s Griezman’s time to shine?

With FIFA 20 released on September 24, 2019, we’d expect the new FIFA 21 cover to be revealed in the months ahead. Stay tuned as EA’s cover announcement could arrive in July or August 2020.
