FIFA 21 Team of the Year Nominees: TOTY Voting & Release Date Details

The FIFA 21 Team of the Year nominees have been unveiled with gamers now able to let their voices be heard. Voting is now open to determine the 11 players that are most deserving of the annual honor in FIFA Ultimate Team. Once results are revealed, there will be special items released with some of the highest ratings of the year. Here are the latest details on the promotion.

Who are the FIFA 21 Team of the Year nominees?

EA recently rolled out their nominees for FIFA 21 Team of the Year online and is giving gamers the opportunity to vote for 11 players. They’ll come from a combination of the available attackers, midfielders, and defenders, along with a goalkeeper.

Just seven nominees are from the goalkeepers of FIFA. They include Liverpool’s Alisson, Manchester City’s Ederson, PSG’s Keylor Navas, and Bayern Munchen’s Manuel Neuer.

The attackers spot is always a tough consideration and this year is no different. Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Mohamed Salah, and Cristiano Ronaldo are amongst options. For defenders, gamers will have interesting options such as former cover star Virgil Van Dijk, Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, Chelsea’s Thiago Silva, and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

How to vote and TOTY release date

See all of the FIFA 21 TOTY nominees and vote here at the EA website. To vote, gamers will have to select one goalkeeper, up to four defenders, three midfielders, and three attackers. Agree to the terms and conditions and submit the vote. EA will then give image downloads to show off who you voted for on your social media.

Last year’s Team of the Year results arrived on January 6, so it’s a bit later this season, but that’s understandable considering world events. EA noted that voting officially ends on January 18, 2021, at 11:59 PM PT. As far as the FIFA 21 Team of the Year release date, EA didn’t announce any official date yet, but it should be before the end of the month.

Will stats leaders get the nods?

Oftentimes, voting of this nature comes down to popularity contests, although sports video game fans seem to know what’s what with who’s playing the best. It could still become a bit of a popularity contest.

Right now, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski has 20 goals, giving him the most of players in the Big 5 European Leagues. Mohamed Salah leads all players in England with 13 goals. Cristiano Ronaldo leads all players from Italy with 15 goals, while Lionel Messi leads for Spain with 11 goals.

Meanwhile, for assists, Tottenham’s Harry Kane has 11 total to lead the way in England and the Big 5 of Europe. Other assists leaders include Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller and Roma’s Henrich Mkhitaryan with eight each. Iago Aspas has six assists to lead all players in Spain.

Last year, the FIFA community voted Ronaldo as the 12th man on TOTY, so EA may do something similar this year.
