FIFA 21 Top 100 Player Ratings Revealed, Fans React to Latest Numbers

EA Sports has officially revealed its FIFA 21 Top 100 player ratings ahead of the game’s October release date. Once again, it’s no surprise which player is at the top. For yet another installment of the international football sim title, Lionel Messi will be ahead of the rest of the FIFA players. However, some players have shifted a bit in terms of the top 10 compared to last year’s ratings at the game’s launch.

Top 10 players in EA game led by Messi, Ronaldo

Barcelona star Lionel Messi checks in with a 93 overall to lead the FIFA 21 Top 100 player ratings. As the game launches, his base card includes 95 Dribbling, 92 Shooting, 91 Passing, and 85 Pace as top attributes. That’s slightly lower than where he was in the FIFA 20 ratings ahead of launch, as he had a 93 overall.

Cristiano Ronaldo also had a 93 OVR last year, which had him tied with Messi as best overall. However, he’s down two points to start out with a 91 OVR in FIFA 21. Ronald’s key attributes on the first card include 93 Shooting, which is just a tick better than Messi’s. He’s also got 89 Pace, 89 Dribbling, 81 Passing, and 77 Physical ratings.

Joining Neymar Jr. in the top three this year are two rising star players. Fan-favorite Robert Lewandowski of FC Bayern has a 91 OVR, as does Man City’s Kevin de Bruyne. Lewandowski made a huge jump, as he was No. 15 overall for last year’s ratings.

Also of note, the FIFA 21 cover star, Kylian Mbappe, lands at No. 8 this year with a 90 overall rating. The rising PSG star was No. 11 last year with an 89 OVR, so he’s gradually moving up the ladder.

EA reveals FIFA 21 Top 100 player ratings, fans react

Of course, that’s only the top 10 players out of the FIFA 21 Top 100 player ratings. In what’s become an annual tradition, many football fans and gamers are calling out certain players’ ratings already.

On one of FIFA’s Instagram posts, fans were asking how Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold was given an 87 OVR, which seems high for the 21-year-old.

“87 for Trent that’s mad,” an IG fan commented to EA Sports FIFA.

“TRENT 87?!!!! Even as a Liverpool fan I didn’t think he would be that high lol. Still take it,” another fan commented on IG.

“How is de bruyne only a 91 and taa is somehow an 87 makes no sense,” another IG commenter said.

By comparison, Trent Alexander-Arnold started FIFA 20 with an 83 rating. He’s also amongst the FIFA 21 Ambassadors featured in the reveal trailer we saw weeks ago.

Kevin de Bruyne was No. 5 at the FIFA 20 launch with a 91 OVR. He was named Premier League Player of the Season and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for 2019-20.

“Kdb not getting 92 what r they smoking at ea,” an IG commenter asked.

A number of commenters felt that Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Neymar, and Kevin de Bruyne probably deserved better numbers. Many even asked why they were “downgraded” for the FIFA 21 top 100 player ratings.

However, fans should keep in mind, they’ll likely be bumped up should they have excellent performances in the next season they play.

In addition, FIFA 21 Ultimate Team should feature upgraded items for most of the top 10 players at some point during the game’s season.
