Fortnite Update 4.3 Officially Brings Shopping Carts And More

Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode has a brand new update that just debuted today, and the Shopping Cart vehicle has indeed now been added to the game. It’s the first vehicle the game has had, which makes this news a pretty big deal, and they’ve been rolled out (pun intended) across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices along with a few other updates.

Epic Games states that the Shopping Carts will let you “ride solo or grab a friend to cover you as you roll around the map together.” You can shoot from the seat as you’re being pushed, which is a pretty silly setup, but if you’re pushing the cart with your friend inside, it’s not clear if you have any real way to defend yourself. The carts will be found in various locations around the world, and are not susceptible to fall damage. They should make for an interesting new addition to the game, especially since there isn’t currently another way to get around in terms of vehicles.

There are also new mushrooms in the game, which you can find in swamps or wooded areas. They’ll give you 5 shield points each up to a maximum of 100, so you’ll want to seek them out when you can. In addition to the new mushrooms and shopping carts, however, there are two limited time modes that have returned: Teams of 20 and Blitz.

Blitz is a streamlined, quicker Battle Royale, with all the new weapons and items introduced to Fortnite since its last appearance in-game. Teams of 20 wil gather five teams of 20 players together to square off against each other in combat to vie to be the last team standing. Each time has their own bus as well, with chests and supply drops to offer additional items in comparison to the mode’s previous availability time.

In Save the World news, the Blockbuster event returns with Part 2: A Hero is Born. There’s also a set of new Daily Quests to take part in, if that’s more your speed. You can check out the full patch notes here if you’d like to pore over them in more detail.
