Free PlayStation Plus June 2019: Our Predictions

During the month of May, we are enjoying two amazing free games through PS Plus: Overcooked and What Remains of Edith Finch. But we are already excited about next month. What will the June 2019 PlayStation Plus free games be? Here are some of our predictions as we wait for the official announcement on the PlayStation blog.

1. Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide

One of the early releases slated for June is Warhammer: Chaosbane, which will be on PS4, Xbox One and PC. With this game coming soon, it makes sense to offer another Warhammer game. One great choice might be Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide. It received significant praise for its co-op action. This also makes it a good choice as Chaosbane likewise will be a solo/co-op title.

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide could be among the June 2019 PlayStation Plus free games.

Additionally, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine was featured for free in 2012. So there is precedent for offering a Warhammer game to PS Plus members.

2. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon came out in 2018 for PS4 and all other major platforms. It was produced by Koji Igarashi, and is considered a spiritual successor to the Castlevania games. On June 18th, we’ve got Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night coming up, so this would be a good chance for gamers to catch up on the new series.

3. The King of Fighters XIV

The fighting game Samurai Shodown is scheduled for release on June 25th on PS4 and Xbox One. We think that another game developed by SNK would be a good fit for the PS Plus free games June 2019 list. One option would be The King of Fighters XIV, which came out for PS4 back in 2016. For its gameplay mechanics and 3D models, the game was well-received by reviewers. It would serve well to get fans of fighting games excited for Samurai Shodown.

4. Yakuza 6: Song of Life

Another exciting upcoming game release is Judgment, previously known under the codename “Project Judge.” This game will release on June 25th for PlayStation 4. It is a Yakuza series spin-off, and has already released in Japan. There, it has received high marks from critics.

We think Sony would do well to feature a Yakuza game to build even more anticipation for Judgment. Just last year, Sony featured Yakuza Kiwami in the free games list for November. In previous years, Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 4 were free.

So what better time would there be to make Yakuza 6: Song of Life free? The game received nominations during the 2018 Golden Joystick Awards for “PlayStation Game of the Year” and “Best Storytelling.” Featuring it for free through PS Plus would be a real treat to fans of the franchise.
