God of War Returns to Number One for Sales Yet Again in the UK

Since its release, the latest God of War has dominated sales week after week, and month after month. Although it was displaced from the top spot two months ago, Santa Monica Studios’ newest game has since surged back; The title has claimed the #1 spot in the UK for the month of July. God of War sales also performed well in the US, despite the game being a PlayStation exclusive title.

God of War Sales in the UK

The latest God of War has claimed the #1 best-selling game title numerous times, including on several monthly retail charts. The latest charts for the month of July have now been released. July’s retail charts differ from most months due to the impact of Amazon Prime Day, which has a tendency to skew monthly sales figures as people take advantage of sale discounts. As a result, some retail tracking services list two sets of figures.

God of War Claimed the Top Spot Yet Again for July in the UK

God of War reclaimed the #1 best-selling spot in the UK once again. It outsold Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and The Crew 2, which claimed the next three places. (The Crew 2 came 3rd and 4th for its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases, respectively.) In the US, retail tracking is done via generated revenue, rather than actual units sold. As a result, it’s much harder to track accurate sales figures. Nevertheless, God of War still claimed the #2 spot behind State of Decay 2 in May. The July charts for the US have yet to be released.

Unsurprisingly, God of War failed to appear on the top 10 retail chart for the Japanese market. Although God of War achieved notable success for a Western release in Japan, it has long since fallen down the ratings; Japan has traditionally been Nintendo’s heartland, and it’s unsurprising to see the top 10 list dominated by Switch titles. Taiko: Drum Master – Nintendo Switch Version! claimed the top spot, followed by Octopath Traveler, Splatoon 2, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
