The Good Times Update Hits Hades, Adds New Challenges

Supergiant Games has officially rolled out another update for Hades following their latest announcement on Twitter. Dubbed the Good Times Update, the improvements and additions included within are numerous and exciting. From new gods to greater challenges, players seeking to extend their experience with the early access game should be pleased.

The Underworld Just Got Even Bigger

Last month’s Chaos Update saw a host of tweaks and significant changes to Hades, as Artemis and Primordial Chaos itself joined the cast of characters. Announced last week, this latest update delivers plenty of new content to dive right into and further expands the game as promised. A familiar face for those acquainted with Greek mythology, the god of wine and revelry Dionysus is the poster child of the Good Times Update.

The most significant addition included in the latest patch is Dionysus himself, as he can be utilized to dole out assistance and encouragement during Zagreus’ descent through the underworld. The Adamant Rail has also been included, which provides a dose of extra firepower whenever necessary. The firearm can be unlocked after owning each of the other four weapons in the game and will open up a whole new method of play.

A new challenge presents itself for those seeking it in the form of the Infernal Gates. Using the Pact of Punishment, players can seek out even more exciting and powerful rewards within the Infernal Gates, assuming they can survive the trials thrown their way. Also present past the Gates, the Wretched Broker now offers better deals, and Infernal Troves hold onto their value for longer periods of time.

Hades has expanded narratively as well in the Good Times Update. The most significant of these adjustments is the inclusion of hundreds of new dialogue lines. Zagreus and the Storyteller both receive new lines, as well as the many other characters the expanded story touches on. It’s encouraging to see Supergiant take time to balance its work on both the gameplay and story aspects present in Hades as they continually execute their vision for the title.

Dozens more patch notes are available in-game for any curious souls, but the major meat of the Good Times Update is right here. While fans eagerly await Supergiant Games’ next move they will be occupied exploring all the wonderful things the new update has to offer. The developer has confirmed another monthly update in March, as well as minor patches throughout the course of the next few weeks.
