The Setting of GTA 6 May Have Been Teased by Rockstar

When it comes to their plans for GTA 6, Rockstar have long been extremely tight-lipped, refusing to confirm whether the game is even in development or not. (Though, given that GTA 5 is the best-selling entertainment product of all time, a sequel is all but guaranteed!) However, some fans think that Rockstar might have recently teased the GTA 6 setting, as part of a recent 12-second video advertising content for GTA 5.

Did Rockstar Subtly Tease the GTA 6 Setting?

There have been all manner of rumours circulating online when it comes to GTA 6. However, nothing concrete is actually known about the game. For example, rumours suggest that the game will have a story set across several different time periods, but this could prove to be pure speculation. Some rumours have suggested a return to Vice City, but again, Rockstar has not confirmed one way or another. However, fans online are hoping that this latest video from Rockstar contains a subtle teaser for the GTA 6 setting; namely, that it will be set somewhere in South America.

This theory comes from the fact that, for just a moment during the short video clip, a globe can be seen. When it does appear, it just so happens that South America is clearly visible as the brightest part. Of course, there’s no way to know for sure whether this means anything at all; it could be totally irrelevant, or it could even be a red herring planted by Rockstar to get fans speculating. Whatever the case, fans are unlikely to get any sort of concrete answer anytime soon. Rockstar has yet to confirm whether GTA 6 is even in development, let alone any details about the game.

GTA 6 Setting Could be Teased as South America

However, assuming that it is indeed a teaser, South America could certainly work as a setting. (Especially if the game plans to feature more than one setting.) The GTA series has typically taken place in the US. However, South America, and perhaps a city inspired by somewhere like Rio de Janeiro, could be perfect for a GTA title. It would, of course, have a strong cultural aesthetic distinct from previous North American settings. Furthermore, the stark disparity between the poor and wealthy, and the high crime rate, could suit GTA 6 very well too.
