Two weeks ago, Rockstar teased upcoming updates for both GTA Online and Red Dead Online, shortly before the launch of Red Dead Online’s Naturalist update. Now, the studio has revealed what’s on the way for GTA Online. The “Los Santos Summer Special” update will be launching next week, on the 11th of August.

“Make the most of the remaining dog days of the Southern San Andreas summer with a host of new activities hitting GTA Online next week,” writes Rockstar; “Featuring everything from tense new co-op missions launched from your Super Yacht to the track-based thrills of new Open Wheel Races, to a fleet of new vehicles to acquire and much more.”
The GTA Online Los Santos Summer Special update looks set to be the game’s biggest update of the year so far. (And fans should remember that Rockstar has said that a bigger update is on the way later in 2020.) The first new feature of the summer update will allow owners of the Galaxy Super Yacht to launch new solo & group missions. These range from deep-sea diving to boat-based missions, but are all somewhat ocean-themed.
Additionally, new Business Battles will be coming to the game, including new Adversary Modes set in The Diamond Casino. Of course, it won’t just be new missions. The summer update will also deliver a host of new vehicles; “including rides for Benny to customise, off-roaders, tunable sports cars and a pair of new Open Wheel beauties”. The latter are especially noteworthy because the summer update will also feature new Open Wheel Races. Not only that, but Rockstar will also be adding an Open Wheel Race Creator, so fans can start making their own.
All of this new content will be coming to GTA Online next week, on the 11th of August. The update will, of course, also feature a range of general fixes and improvements for the game, along with the implementation of weekly special events which will take place over the next few months.
