In May of this year, GTA Online once again became one of the world’s best-selling games, with sales and engagement heightened by COVID-19 lockdowns. However, the game’s figures dropped in June, with analysts pointing to a lack of new updates for the game. Now though, Rockstar has revealed that there is both a big Red Dead Online update and a GTA Online update coming soon.
The Upcoming Red Dead & GTA Online Updates
“With both games playing home to more players than ever before in recent months,” writes Rockstar; “we know the community has been awaiting news of any updates for GTA Online and Red Dead Online and we are happy to share that both games will receive exciting new updates in the weeks ahead.”
The first new update will be one for Red Dead Online, which is due to launch on the 28th of July. This update promises to introduce a new Frontier Pursuit which will give players the ability to learn; “the secrets of naturalism” as part of a new Role in the game. Plus, the update will feature a new Outlaw Pass, community-requested fixes and new features, and more. Rockstar’s goal is that it will provide enough new content to sate its players for the next few months.
Rockstar hasn’t revealed the release date of the upcoming GTA Online update. However, it is referred to as a ‘Summer Update’ due to arrive sometime in the next few weeks. Unlike the Red Dead Online update, Rockstar hasn’t offered many details about what this update will include. However, this is apparently just the first set of updates, with another set coming later in the year. That second update will reportedly be the “biggest ever update for GTA Online,” and will feature all-new Heists set in; “an entirely new location”. For now, however, fans will have to wait for Rockstar to release more info closer to the time.
