For starters, you are going to need the map if you want that loot. As of right now, we know that you can find the map item in treasure chests at the very least. Picking it up will have it occupy one of the slots in your inventory. It is worth noting that you can only have one at a time.
Equip the Fortnite Buried Treasure map item and then use it to see a red line appear that leads to the treasure. Follow this line and it will bring you to a big X on the ground. Stand at the center of this X and all you need to do is pull out your ax and hit the ground there.
