How the Call of Duty: Mobile Classes Work – The Mechanic

From the Clown to the Medic and Defender, Call of Duty: Mobile’s Battle Royale mode gives players an interesting (and somewhat unusual) selection of classes. Each offers players something a bit different when it comes to their play-style with two core abilities. One applies permanently, while the other has to be activated. If you want to specialise in using vehicles then the Mechanic is the obvious choice, but it does have more utility than that.

The Call of Duty: Mobile Classes – The Mechanic (Abilities)

Based on the name, you might think that the Mechanic, like the Defender, has a relatively straightforward role among the various Call of Duty: Mobile classes. Where the Defender focuses on protecting themselves and their allies, the Mechanic presumably focuses on vehicles… or so you would think. In actual fact, the word “Engineer” might more accurately describe this class; it focuses more on equipment in general than solely vehicles.

The Mechanic’s first ability is, indeed, Engineer. This allows the Mechanic to see the locations of nearby vehicles, even from the other side of walls. However, this ability also works on other forms of equipment and even enemy traps. “The Mechanic could play a vital role in battle tactics and map navigation,” explains Activision; “being able to spot an idle helicopter, or a speeding ATV whizzing by, or even a Trophy System can help add information to the split-second decision-making process in Battle Royale.”

The Mechanic’s second ability is an EMP Drone which the Mechanic can deploy. As its name implies, this drone can unleash an EMP which can disable equipment. However, the drone is vulnerable to enemy fire, so it’s best to keep it out of sight if you can. Of course, if you time it right, this ability can help you turn the tables on enemies who are dug in. However, a drone which is spotted and shot down by your enemies can also give away your position. As such, you should consider carefully how to approach your target before deploying it.
