How to Get the Hammer Shotgun Reward in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta events serve a variety of different purposes. They allow Activision and Infinity Ward to stress-test the game and its multiplayer servers, of course. Plus, they let players try out the upcoming game and its new features. However, they also provide the developers with a way to let players unlock rewards for the full release. In this case, players have the chance to unlock the Modern Warfare Hammer Shotgun, a fully-customised and free reward item.

How to Unlock the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Hammer Shotgun

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Hammer Shotgun comes fully-customised when you unlock it. It features; “a pistol grip, dual-silenced short barrel, angled foregrip, and holographic sight designed to create a quick-handling, short-ranged, silenced method of foe disposal”. Needless to say, the Hammer Shotgun is a very useful tool to have in your arsenal. To get the blueprint for this gun, however, you’ll need to complete a special objective assigned by Activision and Infinity Ward.

That objective is to reach Level 10 before the second Modern Warfare Beta weekend comes to an end. More specifically, you need to reach that level before 10:00 AM PDT on the 23rd of September. (The exact end time of the second Beta event.) If you do, you’ll unlock the Hammer Shotgun weapon blueprint for you to use in the game’s Gunsmith system when it launches in October. The shotgun won’t be available to use in the Beta itself, unfortunately. However, it will be available at launch on the 25th of October. Note that it will be possible to construct the Hammer Shotgun for yourself in-game even if you don’t unlock it during the Beta. However, you’ll have to unlock the various components individually and assemble it yourself. Unlocking it during the Beta will make it available immediately.

So, if you want to get your hands on this weapon when the game eventually releases, you’ll need to play as much as you can once the second Beta starts. If you haven’t preordered and you’re playing on PC and Xbox One, this may not be as easy. After all, the second event is only available as an Open Beta for three days for PC and Xbox One. The first two days are only available in Early Access for gamers who have pre-ordered.
