Not only fans take the Madden player ratings serious, but the players most certainly do. Not being rated as high as a fellow player in the league can sting some players who feel they’ve shown their abilities. That was the case with one Jacksonville Jaguars star a year or so ago.

In the E:60 Numbers Game preview clip below, EA’s Clint Oldenburg talks about how the players react to ratings. It can get pretty serious, as they show what happened when Leonard Fournette learned of his 87 OVR in the game. It ultimately involved the Madden ratings adjustor team heading to training camp in Jacksonville.

As Madden Marketing Lead Joe Fraler, the ratings adjustor program really began due to Fournette’s anger over that 87. The Jags’ running back even requested Madden just remove him from the game, which is why the team had to go see him in person. Eventually, more players began to ask for ratings adjustors to come attend games to give them more accurate scores.

There are some players out there who are happy with their Madden 20 ratings including wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. He’s the only member from offense in this year’s four member Madden 99 Club.
