This weekend’s Double XP event in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is now live, offering players three different kinds of double XP rewards. As a weekend event, the extra rewards will only be available for a few days’ time, and will come to an end at 10:00 AM PT on Monday morning.
This Weekend’s Black Ops Cold War Double XP Event
While previous Double XP Weekend events in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone have spanned longer than an actual weekend, this weekend offers something slightly different. Namely, that the event offers more than the standard form of double XP. Over the weekend, players will get double XP, double weapon XP, and double Battle Pass XP. (Typically, double XP events only offer either the first or first two.)
While offering double Battle Pass XP is rare, the timing is not surprising. Black Ops Cold War Season 2 will soon be drawing to a close, giving players limited time to complete their Battle Passes. As such, this weekend offers those players an extra opportunity to do so. Indeed, it’s also a good opportunity to earn weapon XP for the Season 2 weapons before any new weapons arrive in Season 3. (Indeed, players can expect at least two new weapons to launch at the start of the season.)
This weekend’s event is also the first such event since the most recent Black Ops Cold War update. That update introduced custom Blueprints for the first time to the game, giving players the option of designing their own weapons using “Gunsmith Customs“. These customs are available for use in both standard multiplayer and Warzone. As such, this weekend may be a good chance to try out this new system, if players haven’t yet done so. The ZRG Sniper Rifle was also added to the game relatively recently, along with two new Operators; Wolf and Rivas.
