Madden 19 Classic Winner Crowned As Michael Skimbo Claims Belt in Las Vegas

The Madden 19 Classic tournament is officially a wrap, as a reigning champion arrived and successfully defended his title. Michael Skimbo was able to win the latest Madden 19 Classic belt after several days of intense competition. His opponent, Justin Barone put up a worthy fight in the final game of the tournament, though. Unfortunately, a big passing play came up short in Barone’s late attempt to tie the game. Here’s a quick recap of the Madden 19 Classic winner Michael Skimbo taking home the belt and a sweet cash prize.

Madden 19 Classic Tournament Finals: Barone vs. Skimbo

It all came down to Justin “Lil’ Man” Barone vs. Michael “Skimbo” Skimbo after three days of tournament games. Skimbo advanced to the finals by defeating the likes of Michael “NobleProdigy” Scott in the Group Stage and Drini “Drini” Gjoka in the quarter-finals. All of these competitors showed their Madden 19 skills over the past several days.

Skimbo also took down Matthew “Mattsergamer” Lee in the semi-final round in what was said to be a tough matchup. However, his Grand Final matchup was just as tough as his opponent put up a fight all game. It was even tied heading towards the half, but Skimbo managed to take a touchdown lead.

Skimbo was able to seal the win with a huge defensive play in the fourth quarter. With under a minute left, Barone was looking to complete a game-tying pass to the end zone. However, Skimbo’s defensive skills were on point. Eric Berry came away with a huge interception in the end zone and ran it up the field before getting tackled down. That was enough to give Skimbo the ball with little time for his opponent to do anything to get it back.

Here’s a look at Skimbo’s game-sealing defensive stop in the tournament finals.

Madden 19 Classic Championship is Skimbo’s third

With that Skimbo claims the Madden 19 Classic belt, making it his third MCS title. In addition, he won a cool $25,000 cash prize for this latest victory. For Skimbo, it’s his second-straight championship belt and third during his eSports career. Congratulations are certainly in order for his impressive performance and back-to-back titles as he is among the top gamers along with this year’s Madden Bowl winner Young Kiv.

The latest Madden 19 Classic tournament live streamed on the official EA Madden NFL Twitch channel. Coverage spanned Thursday, December 6 through Saturday, December 8 with the finals taking place last night.
