Madden 19 Ratings Boost For Saints’ Drew Brees, Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins

After a record-breaking performance this past week, the NFL is celebrating the greatness of Drew Brees. In addition, EA Sports is recognizing Brees for his work on the field along with several other players from Week 5. However, the Madden 19 ratings weren’t so kind as they dropped for a few of the other players with less-than-stellar performances. Here are the players who surged or climbed in terms of Madden ratings as well as those who dropped a bit.

Brees, Hopkins get Madden 19 ratings boosts

The Monday Night Football game featured Brees and the New Orleans Saints defeating the Washington Redskins in a 43-19 rout. Brees finished the game with another brilliant performance, connecting on 26 of his 29 pass attempts. That resulted in a nearly flawless game as he finished with 363 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He actually has zero picks so far this season.

However, the biggest feat of the night was that Brees took over the NFL’s all-time passing yards record. Now-retired quarterback Peyton Manning held the record for several years, but Brees dethroned one of the greats. Due to all of that, Brees has received a sweet ratings boost in the Madden 19 game up to a 99 (for a limited time). That’s a whopping increase of seven points to his previous rating, but well-deserved!

In addition to Brees, a few other stars of the gridiron received notable ratings boosts after Week 5. Houston Texans’ receiver DeAndre Hopkins was instrumental in a win over the Dallas Cowboys. Hopkins has moved up a point to a 96 overall with boosts to his awareness, spin move, and “catch in traffic” skills in the game.

The other player who moved up is fellow AFC wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also received just a one-point bump to an 85 overall. It should be interesting to watch as he continues his ascent as a skilled receiver alongside Antonio Brown.

Madden 19 ratings drop for Von Miller, others

The gridiron and Madden 19 ratings were less kind this past week for a few other players. Former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller has dropped by a point. In fairness, he was considered a 99 overall in the game before, and it’s a tough rating to hold. He’s been involved in some tough losses in Denver. He’s still considered one of the better defenders around so it won’t be surprising to see him bounce back. Even another drop won’t be the worst thing for him.

Also dropping this week were Dolphins WR Kenny Stills and Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby. Stills is now down to an 84, while Crosby dropped two points to a 75 overall. The Green Bay Packer missed five kicks in his team’s loss to the Lions, while Stills has been missing in action for the Dolphins offense.

Gamers can pick up Madden 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows systems.
