Top 10 Madden 21 TE Ratings: Rob Gronkowski Surprises Fans With His New Rating

The Madden 21 TE ratings have officially arrived and brought with them a major surprise. The top two names on the list didn’t surprise people, as two players involved in the 2020 Super Bowl ranked as the best of the bunch. The San Francisco 49ers’ George Kittle and Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce hold the top two ratings when it comes to the position. However, the third-best TE, Rob Gronkowski, has some fans wondering what EA was thinking.

Kittle and Kelce lead Madden 21 TE ratings

In the past few days, we saw the reveal of the top rookie tight end ratings, with the Chicago Bears’ Cole Kmet leading the way. On Friday, we learned that the New Orleans Saints’ receiver Michael Thomas is the final member of the 99 Club, but we also learned a few tight ends are within reach of the club.

The 49ers’ George Kittle ranks at the top of the Madden 21 TE ratings, bringing a 98 overall into the new football sim game. Coming in second is the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce. The Super Bowl-winning tight end gets a 97 OVR.

The third-best tight end in the game according to EA’s ratings is Rob Gronkowski. He’s making his return to the NFL to play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his favorite quarterback, Tom Brady. Still, some feel giving him such a high rating after the time off may be undeserved for one of the best to ever play the position.

Gronk’s 95 OVR ranks him above the No. 4 and No. 5 choices, the Philadelphia Eagles’ Zach Ertz (90 OVR) and Atlanta Falcons’ Austin Hooper (89 OVR).

Fans react to Rob Gronkowski’s rating

The 2020 NFL season will mark Rob Gronkowski’s return from retirement as the three-time Super Bowl champion joins the Buccaneers. In addition to those three rings, Gronk is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time All-Pro team member. He also nabbed the 2014 Comeback Player of the Year Award, so he’s used to impressing with his performances after it looked like he might be done.

Career stats for Gronk include 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns on 521-of-794 receptions. Most fans expect him to be in the NFL Hall of Fame easily.

Still, a lot of analysts and fans were quick to question why Gronk earned the spot he did, as they replied to the tweet above.

“Dude hasn’t played a game in 2 years and is a 95,” one fan replied.

“95 for Gronk is kind of silly. Love the guy, but having him be higher rated than some of the top players in the game after coming out of retirement is kind of dumb,” another fan said.

“Gronk might be the most overrated madden player of all time,” yet another fan commented.

The former cover star was certainly given a generous spot due to his overall resume. Will he manage to hold that spot if and when the new season arrives?
