Madden 21 Patch Update for September 10 Brings Minor Fixes, Limited-Time Content

A new Madden 21 patch update arrived on Thursday which will bring just a few fixes to the game right now. However, it also brings a bunch of new content, just in time for the Madden 21 Free to Play weekend. The promotion was launched as the NFL season started on Thursday. Here’s a look at what all the new patch update brings to the game.

What’s in the new Madden 21 patch update for Sept. 10?

As with each Madden 21 patch update, they released a collection of notes for gamers to see what’s been fixed or added. In this particular update, we see just two updates applied to fix things. One involves Madden 21 Ultimate Team squads and the other is for 2v2 gameplay. Otherwise, the rest of this update appears to have been used to add some new content.

Here are the full notes for the Madden 21 patch update (Sept. 10):

  • Fixed some issues related to MUT squads role selection
  • Fixed a case where usernames didn’t appear during 2v2 gameplay
  • Season 1 (aka Hi-Def) begins, and runs until 11/5
  • New App Icon & Main Menu art representing the Season start
  • Nike HQ yard Location & Challenges are released
  • Season-specific Vanity Content is available for a limited time
  • New Legends available in the SSKO Draft
  • JUFU song “Just Do It” featured in the Madden Trax rotation

As mentioned, and shown in the Patch Notes, the Madden 21 Free to Play Hi-Def promotion started on Thursday. The promotion arrived with the start of the NFL season as the Chiefs played the Texans in the opening game. In addition, the “Free to Play” promotion comes just after EA Sports revealed that they added Colin Kaepernick to free agents in Madden 21.

So those gamers who haven’t tested out Madden 21 will get through Sunday (Sept. 13) to try out Kaepernick and enjoy modes like Superstar KO or The Yard.

New game still holds low scores, fans calling out NFL

At Metacritic, the aggregate review score is a 70 out of 100 for Madden 21 on Xbox. The score is at 63 out of 100 for PS4 or PC. However, many frustrated gamers have hit the game with a low rating/review score, as it checks in at just 0.4 out of 10 for Xbox One, and 0.2 out of 10 for PS4.

Fans are also using a hashtag online asking the NFL to drop EA Sports. This would allow another game developer to potentially come in and create a football sim game they want more. EA has promised they’ll be bringing major updates to the game’s Franchise mode, but so far it seems those have yet to arrive.
