Madden 22 Defense: How to QB Contain in Madden

Mobile quarterbacks can be a problem for your Madden 22 defense, so it’s important to know how to QB contain in the game. This will allow your linebackers and/or defensive ends to keep a mobile QB in check. The setup and controls for the quarterback contain have changed a bit when it comes to Madden 22. Here’s what to know in order to QB contain effectively so a speedy quarterback doesn’t burn your defense.

How to shift your defensive line

It’s important to know about how to shift your defensive line in Madden 22 to help with quarterback contain. When your defense is on the field, quickly press Left on the directional pad (D-pad) to bring up an on-screen menu. This will give you options for shifting your defensive line (see below).

You can shift your defensive line to the right by pressing the Left Stick to the right or shift your defensive line to the left by pressing to the left with the Left Stick.

Press up on the Left Stick to spread the defensive line out, or press down on the Left Stick to pinch the defense, moving them closer together to prevent a run.

How to QB contain in Madden 22 defense

In the Madden 21 defense, all you had to do was hit R1 multiple times in order to QB contain. That has changed when it comes to the Madden 22 defense. Now, you need to make sure your defense is spread out first before you can QB contain.

Press Left on the directional pad to bring up the on-screen menu for defensive controls. Spread your defensive alignment out by pressing up on the Left Stick. Next, press R1 twice and that will QB contain in Madden 22.
