Madden 22 Player Ratings: Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce Returns to 99 Club

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce is among the best of the best. The third member of the elite 99 Club for Madden 22 player ratings arrived on Wednesday morning. With the reveal came another video where a 99 Club member was surprised by special gifts for the honor. Here’s the latest about the two-time club member and his reaction to the reveal.

Travis Kelce reacts to Madden 22 player ratings

Off an impressive season, Travis Kelce is back at 99 in the Madden 22 player ratings. His 105 receptions for 1,416 yards and 11 touchdowns for the 2020 season helped the Chiefs get back to another Super Bowl. Unfortunately, a second ring wasn’t in the picture, but a second 99 Club entry is for Kelce.

The Chiefs tight end was boarding a private flight when his manager surprised him with the news. Kelce was loving the honor including his special gifts such as a signed note from John Madden himself and the sweet gold “99” chain he quickly put around his neck.

“I grew up playing Madden and always wanted to play with the guys that were the highest rated in the game. It’s just surreal, I’m one of those guys now,” Kelce said in the clip.

Kelce, who’s been in the league since 2013, is now a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro selection. A few seasons ago, he won the Super Bowl as part of the Chiefs, and they continue to be a threat to reach and win the NFL’s big game.

Kelce is third member of 99 Club, so far

The 99 Club is considered a special honor for players in Madden each year as it shows they’re amongst the best in the game. It doesn’t have a huge impact on the video game itself, outside of using the players in exhibition mode. However, the 99 Club members tend to get a certain level of respect amongst their NFL peers.

With Wednesday’s reveal of Kelce in the 99 Club that makes three members now. On Monday, the Green Bay Packers’ Davante Adams was revealed as the first 99, as he topped the top 10 list of wide receivers in the game. Tuesday brought a fifth-time entry into the 99 Club for the Los Angeles Rams’ Aaron Donald.

With three members in the club, there still appears to be room for a few more. Fans are heavily speculating that the Tennessee Titans’ Derrick Henry may finally get rewarded with a deserved spot.

There’s also the upcoming quarterback ratings reveal, which could have Kelce’s teammate, Patrick Mahomes, back in the 99 Club too. Mahomes appears as Madden 22 co-cover star alongside Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Speaking of Mahomes, the Chiefs’ QB is also lobbying to get a third member of the team his 99 OVR. Could Tyreek Hill join Mahomes and Kelce as a Big Three in the 99 Club this season?

In addition to the players mentioned, cornerback Stephon Gilmore of the New England Patriots finished out last season in the club. Will the Pats’ defensive star return like other members have this year? Stay tuned as Madden Ratings Reveal Week continues!
