Madden 22 Team Ratings: Tom Brady’s Buccaneers Top All NFL Teams

Ahead of EA’s Madden 22 video game release, ratings arrived for NFL players with Patrick Mahomes edging Tom Brady on the league’s top quarterbacks. It was another entry into the exclusive 99 Club for the Chiefs’ QB and former NFL MVP. While Mahomes gets that honor, Brady and his team head into the new EA game as the top-rated squad in the Madden 22 team ratings.

Brady and Bucs top Chiefs to lead Madden 22 team ratings

Fresh off their Super Bowl victory several months ago, the Tampa Bay Bucs top the Madden 22 team ratings. They’re rated at 92 overall for the football simulation game, with a 92 rating on offense with a 90 for defense, per Bucs Nation.

Last week, Tom Brady ranked second in the Madden 22 quarterback ratings with a 97 overall rating. Meanwhile, his teammate, tight end Mike Evans, is a 91 overall in the EA game.

Coming in just behind the Bucs on the team ratings list, is the team they defeated in the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes’ squad has two players in the 99 Club with the quarterback and teammate Travis Kelce. Tyreek Hill is a 98 overall making him close in the top 10 wide receivers. The Chiefs get a 90 overall rating with their 96 offensive rating leading all teams. On defense, they score just a 76.

Rounding out the top five teams overall are the Green Bay Packers at 89 (85 DEF, 91 OFF), Baltimore Ravens at 88 (85 DEF, 84 OFF), and Cleveland Browns at 87 (79 DEF,  89 OFF).

Along with the team ratings, EA has also released details for Superstar X-Factors in the game. The first position revealed was quarterback, with Brady and Mahomes amongst the players shown with these abilities.

Who are the worst teams in the game?

The basement dwellers in the Madden 22 team ratings include the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets at 72 OVR are the worst of the worst, just barely, with their 69 offensive rating and 74 defensive rating.

However, the Panthers (73 OVR) and Lions (74 OVR) aren’t too far behind. The other two teams, Jacksonville and Cincinnati are tied at a 75 OVR for the new football game. That said, those two teams may have the most hope for improvement thanks to their young stars.

Jacksonville will head into the new season after drafting standing quarterback Trevor Lawrence from Clemson No. 1 in the draft. The Bengals are hoping to have a healthy Joe Burrow back on the field showing what he can do best.

While they’re not among the top 10 quarterbacks yet, both have the talent to exceed expectations. Time will tell if these teams stay at the bottom of the rankings, or if one of the other three might surprise fans and analysts.
