Madden NFL 20 Championship Series Details Revealed Including Key Tournament Dates

On Friday, Electronic Arts and the NFL officially announced details for the Madden NFL 20 Championship Series. The big news arrives as the gaming community is preparing for the official release of the new Madden 20 video game. The popular esports tournament is going to take place in conjunction with some of the key dates for the National Football League in the coming season. In addition, two of the NFL’s partners will become sponsors for the Madden Championship Series with Snickers and Pizza Hut.

Madden NFL 20 Championship Series key dates

There are four major tournaments that are part of Madden NFL 20 Championship Series. Each of these takes place around an important date for the NFL season or postseason. This is to capitalize on the rising popularity of competitive Madden scene and tie it in with the 2019-20 NFL season.

It all begins with the Madden NFL 20 Classic taking place from August 30 through September 1. This is just ahead of when the official NFL season kicks off. The first Madden event will take place at the Esports Stadium Arlington with coverage on the Madden NFL Twitch and YouTube channels. The Madden 19 Classic winner was Michael Skimbo who also appeared as a virtual coach for Ultimate Team in the Madden 19 game.

Next up is the Madden NFL 20 Club Championship is the popular event where players qualify to represent the NFL teams. The event officially takes place from December 18-21. Pavan “Pavan” Lakhat represented the Oakland Raiders and won the tournament netting him $100,000, a championship belt, and Super Bowl tickets.

From January 30 through February 1, 2020 is the Madden NFL 20 Challenge. It arrives just before the NFL’s Super Bowl 54 scheduled for February 2, 2020, in Miami, Florida. Most years, an expected champion is crowned at the event. However, 2019 saw dark horse competitor Christian “Chritobin” Lomenzo capture the Madden 19 Challenge in mid-March of this year.

The fourth and final event for the Madden NFL 20 Championship Series is the Madden NFL 20 Bowl. It’s scheduled for April 23-25 in conjunction with the 2020 NFL Draft to wrap up the competitive Madden season. There was a stacked field at this year’s event. Ultimately, it was Drini Gjoka winning his second-career MCS belt with a dominant Madden 19 Bowl victory.

Brand new sponsors, more MCS details

As mentioned, the Madden NFL 20 Championship Series will benefit from having two of the NFL’s partners as sponsors. Major brands Pizza Hut and Snickers will provide sponsorship for the competitive series in the coming season. Pizza Hut Stadium will serve as the brand new venue for competitive Madden NFL. Per the official press release, it’s “the first-ever official virtual stadium rights deal in esports.”

The Madden 20 title could change how the game is played quite a bit. However, there’s no denying that competitive Madden will continue to be a major force, especially with the NFL helping out.
