Madden NFL 21 Reveals In-Game Virtual Pro Bowl Voting to Add Two More Players to Rosters

Monday brought the official reveal of the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl rosters as the season continues to move towards the playoffs. In conjunction with the roster reveals, EA revealed that fans will be able to perform virtual in-game Pro Bowl voting. This will be a first-time in-game addition in Madden NFL 21. Voting will be available through something called the Video Game Numbers Challenge.

How does Madden NFL 21 Video Game Numbers Challenge work?

The Video Game Numbers Challenge will feature a group of 32 NFL players eligible for the Virtual Pro Bowl Roster. Ultimately, fans will select two players through the challenge, one from the AFC, and one from the NFC. These players join the Virtual Pro Bowl rosters.

The players are determined based on touchdowns scored during ranked and unranked Head-to-Head matchups. Every touchdown scored between Tuesday, December 22, 2020, and January 3, 2021, by players from the select group of 32 will count towards this Madden NFL 21 virtual voting.

Here’s the full breakdown recap via EA Madden:

  • Every touchdown scored by a select group of 32 eligible NFL players between Dec. 22, 2020, and Jan. 3, 2021, in Madden NFL 21 will be counted towards two of those players joining the Virtual Pro Bowl roster.
  • Through the Video Game Numbers Challenge, fans will add two NFL players (one AFC and one NFC)  to the official Virtual Pro Bowl Roster.
  • The top-scoring AFC player and NFC player will participate in this year’s virtual game and will be revealed on January 4, 2021.
  • Players can participate in the Video Game Numbers Challenge through online Head-to-Head matchups, both ranked and unranked, across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Eligible players for this Virtual Pro Bowl voting will include Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry, and Chiefs rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The full list of 32 eligible players is available at the EA webpage here.

Mahomes, Wilson amongst Virtual Pro Bowl leaders

Ahead of the official roster reveals, an NFL.com report unveiled the top vote-getters for the 2020 Virtual Pro Bowl. Leading the way is former Madden 20 cover star, Patrick Mahomes. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is second overall. Mahomes is currently amongst the 99 Club in Madden NFL 21. Wilson is a former club member but now sits at 98 overall.

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry was third in voting. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers round out the top five. Kelce is amongst the most recent Madden 99 Club members, as he continues to look stellar in Kansas City.

Another Madden 99 Club member, Aaron Donald is amongst NFC players. That gives him his seventh selection for the Pro Bowl in seven seasons. Amongst first-time selections are Washington Football Team rookie Chase Young, Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson, and Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.

NFL Network hosted a special on Monday evening to officially unveil the AFC and NFC Pro Bowl rosters. There won’t be an actual game played this season but the distinction will be noted for players. There will also be other Madden NFL 21 events including a virtual Pro Bowl and competitions involving NFL players and pro gamers.
