MLB The Show 20: Sony, San Diego Studio, MLB Extend Partnership With Plans to Bring Game to Other Consoles

Big news has arrived for future editions of the most popular baseball video game around. San Diego Studio, the creative minds behind the upcoming MLB The Show 20 have extended its partnership with Sony, MLB, and the MLBPA to continue producing the game. Here are more details on the new partnership and the exciting news of what is coming for the game in the future.

MLB announces extended video game partnership

A press release arrived via the MLB.com website on Monday (Dec. 9) to announce the extended partnership. It said the parties “entered into multi-year extensions to continue development and distribution of MLB The Show, the award-winning officially licensed video game.” The news comes ahead of the anticipated MLB The Show 20 game slated for arrival in March of 2020.

The biggest news from the press release could be what’s in store for gamers who want to play MLB The Show but don’t own a PlayStation. They also mentioned bringing the game beyond the PlayStation to new consoles starting in 2021. The report said details would be coming in the future about that, but it’s a big move for the game as they expand to possibly being available for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PCs.

It’s also a big deal as next-generation platforms are expected to launch near the end of 2020. With the potential for the game to move to the competing Xbox console, it opens up the franchise for much more success going forward. More gamers will finally get to enjoy the popular baseball simulation game.
