Myles Garrett Madden 22 Rating: Browns Star Joins Madden 99 Club, Making History

The Cleveland Browns’ defensive juggernaut has achieved history as the Myles Garrett Madden 22 rating hit 99 overall. As of Thursday, Garrett officially joined the exclusive 99 Club in recognition of his stellar play this season. The rating is the highest available in the game, and Garrett is the first Cleveland player to gain entry. No other Cleveland player has rated 99 OVR in the game’s three decades.

Myles Garrett Madden 22 rating brings 99 Club honor

Up until today, no Cleveland Browns player has made it into Madden’s 99 Club. Cleveland’s left tackle Joe Thomas came close with a 98 overall, but the new Myles Garrett Madden 22 rating takes it. Garrett has earned the honor based on his play this season, including 15 sacks, 28 solo tackles, and a forced fumble.

His 15 sacks are tied for second currently in the NFL and is a new franchise record. In Week 14, Garrett also scored his first career touchdown off a fumble recovery, helping his team defeat the Ravens.

Upon joining the 99 Club, Garrett was gifted with a shiny trophy and Madden 99 pendant in commemoration of his moment. Browns legend Joe Thomas was on a live video call to present the honor to Garrett.

“It’s so much fun watching you grow from a dominant rookie to one of the best players in the NFL,” Thomas told Garrett before suggesting he head downstairs.

Awaiting him was a special celebration complete with balloons and his gifts for joining the Madden 99 Club.

“The dream started with being a 99 in college football and that’s changed to pros. Now I gotta see if I can become the first 100,” Garrett shared in the clip.

Who else is in the 99 Club or close to joining it?

With the new Myles Garrett Madden 22 rating, he becomes the fifth member of the current 99 Club. He joins fellow defensive stars Jalen Ramsey (CB, Rams) and Aaron Donald (RE, Rams). In addition, the Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams and Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce are members of the club.

A number of players are close with 98 OVR ratings including Bucs QB Tom Brady. The seven-time champ recently made a case about bumping his Madden ratings after former QB Peyton Manning downgraded him. He also reacted to comments made by former Cowboys QB Tony Romo who called Brady “slow” in a recent game.

The Dallas Cowboys right guard Zack Martin is currently a 98 OVR and close to joining the 99 Club. Other 98 OVRs include Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins and Titans halfback, Derrick Henry. However, both players have been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The player ratings in EA’s Madden NFL game are determined based on weekly performances, with rating adjustors analyzing players each week to adjust appropriately. Now that Garrett has the 99 OVR, the goal is also to keep that rating.

Garrett’s Browns (7-6) have upcoming games against the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend and Packers on Christmas Day. They’ll close out their season’s schedule with a road game versus Pittsburgh and a home battle against Cincinnati.
