To do that, it brings that NBA Jam sort of feel with stars of the past and present in an entertaining array of court battles. In conjunction with the upcoming NBA All-Star Week’s events, there will be a special event for the game too. Former NBA All-Star players Shaq and Baron Davis will partake in the NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 All-Star Throwdown 2019.

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 All-Star Throwdown 2019 details

On Friday (Feb. 15), the Celebrity All-Star game takes place featuring NBA 2K’s Ronnie 2K on one team’s roster. He’ll by trying to show his skills and grab that MVP award from last year’s winner Quavo. Hours before that event happens, there will be an eLeague event going on which involves the other 2K game, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2.

The big event is the NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 All-Star Throwdown. It will bring Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal and former All-Star Hornets guard Baron Davis to the competition. In addition, 2K Playground’s tweet shows Karl-Anthony Towns, Trae Young, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Kyle Kuzma will all be involved.

Shaq is part of the NBA on TNT crew and frequently drops his hoops knowledge on fans about the real game. During a recent segment, Baron Davis was in the studio with him as they briefly discussed the event and their skills with video games.

During the clip, Davis reminded Shaq that he “got whooped,” but it was in Street Fighter, not 2K Playgrounds. While Davis was nice on the court, it’s hard to imagine he could take down Shaq one-on-one but in a three-vs-three battle on Playgrounds, anything’s possible.

Viewers will be able to watch this Playgrounds 2 competition go down live on Friday, beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. It takes place at The Underground at Charlotte’s Music Factory. It’ll also be shown live streaming on the eLeague TV Twitch channel here. For those who are unable to see the live stream, it will be televised later on TBS beginning at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
