NBA 2K19 Patch Update 8 Brings Long Download Times, Improves Gameplay, Player Likenesses

As of Wednesday (Jan. 30), 2K unveiled a new NBA 2K19 patch update for the hit basketball game. The latest patch addresses a number of player likeness, glitches, and gameplay adjustments to help make things better. Among the improvements are the elimination of shoving in the Neighborhood games and the adjustment of AI logic for passing out of drives.

NBA 2K19 Patch Update 8 Details

On Wednesday, gamers with PlayStation 4 or Xbox One systems received a relatively large patch update for NBA 2K19. The update will be on the way in the future for Nintendo Switch and PCs. As seen in screenshots that many people posted on social media (below), the Version 1.08 file today was just over 7 gigabytes.

Some gamers have reported rather long download times and even issues with their consoles crashing from this update. The timing of the patch update’s release, around midday, hasn’t helped matters. Still, it brings a large number of gameplay fixes and improvements with it.

Player likeness updates are included in the latest patch. These are for face, tattoos, or hairstyles. NBA 2K’s team updated Derrick Rose, Zach LaVine, Michael Beasley, Rodney McGruder, Richaun Holmes, and Willie Cauley-Stein. Some gamers are still looking for the dev team to fix Jalen Brunson as he still doesn’t have left-handed shooting in the game.

The NBA 2K19 Neighborhood games will no longer have heavy pushing or shoving like before. In addition, there will be fewer ball collisions with players’ lower legs and/or feet. The update also allows gamers to edit lineups on the loading screen once again. There is even more variation when it comes to the AI calling offensive plays. Also, CPU-controlled players will have better logic and usage of passes out of drives.

Overall, this NBA 2K19 patch update should address a lot of gameplay inconsistencies that were hindering things. As with previous updates, it’s nearly impossible that the team is going to fix every little aspect of the game that is a noticeable issue, but it appears they did quite a bit with this latest one.
