NBA 2K20: How to Call for a Screen, Use Pick and Roll Options for Playmaking

The new NBA 2K20 game offers gamers a chance to take the battle to the hardwood or the street courts in various modes. One of the essential parts of the game will be knowing how to use different plays and strategies. A basic move to master in NBA 2K20 is how to call for a screen. Additionally, being able to use the pick and roll whenever you need to can help with creating space to make plays. Here’s how to do both in the NBA 2K20 game.

How to call for a screen in NBA 2K20

It doesn’t matter if you’re playing in an NBA arena or in the 2K20 Neighborhood, you’ll need to know how to use different plays. Also, no matter which player has the ball for your squad, you can call a screen in NBA 2K20 with them. Whether its the point guard, or even if it’s one of the big men, you can use this play. However, a lot of teams run this with the point guard calling for the screen and using it as the playmaker. Some might use a playmaking forward such as LeBron James or Paul George, though.

To call for the screen in NBA 2K20 on PlayStation 4, simply press and hold the L1 button on the controller. On the Xbox One, press and hold LB, or press and hold L on the Nintendo Switch controller. One of your teammates who is close by will come over to set a pick in front of that player as you handle the ball.

Hold on the specific button to keep the screen in place as long as needed. In addition, you can press R1 on the PS4 controller to create space in other areas on the court for a roll and fade. Use RB on Xbox One or R on the Nintendo Switch. One other option is to press the left thumbstick during the screen play to help open up other lanes to the hoop.

How to use the pick and roll options

A pick and roll in NBA 2K20 is also relatively easy and a way to open up easier scoring options when you’re playing. You’ll start this play as you learned in the above by calling for a screen. Hold L1 on PS4 or LB on Xbox One, or the L on the Nintendo Switch controller.

Once the teammate moves into place for the screen, another menu should pop up over their head to give you additional options. For example, you can use the left thumbstick to change your teammates’ angle for the pick and roll.

Also, you can press R1 on PS4, RB on Xbox One or R on Nintendo Switch to turn it into a roll and fade. Another option is to use the L1 on PS4 or LB on Xbox or L on Switch so your teammate can slip out of the position earlier.

Basically, the idea is to use this play so you can free up space for your ball-handler and get the pesky defender away. Use it to create an open lane to take a shot, get a layup, or pass off to another teammate when needed!
