After weeks of requests for NBA 2K20 Kobe Bryant Tribute content, it appears that 2K is finally ready to honor the late, great Lakers star. NBA 2K20 Kobe Bryant tribute video arrives

VGR previously reported about fans demanding a Kobe tribute card or some sort of in-game challenges. As fans continued to wonder if anything might be in store, an NBA 2K20 Kobe Bryant tribute video hit the internet Monday morning.

In the video, older footage of Kobe’s character in NBA 2K is on display along with his newer version in the game. Part of 2K20’s tweet caption says, “Today we pay tribute to the Mamba. We miss you, Kobe.”

The video above was retweeted by the NBA 2K20 MyTeam Twitter. They mentioned, “Today is all about the Mamba. We have some special in-game content coming your way soon.”

The video arrived on April 13. Four years ago the day was declared Mamba Day in honor of Kobe’s last game with the Lakers.

NBA 2K releases Kobe Bryant card, challenges

As promised, the NBA 2K Twitter put out several special tweets later in the day. That was to let all 2K20 gamers know that starting today, there is a free NBA 2K20 Kobe Bryant tribute card available. Gamers can enter the locker code below to receive a Pink Diamond Kobe with a 96 overall rating.

The other NBA 2K20 Kobe Bryant tribute content is a set of new Spotlight Challenges in honor of the Mamba. These Kobe challenges including eight different moments from his career. Among them is his 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors, the lob to Shaquille O’Neal and his 60-point finale game for the Lakers.

Each single challenge has a reward such as packs, Tokens, and MT. The final reward for completing all eight of those challenges is a fitting 81 Tokens for use in the game.

For the most part, fans are calling the Kobe Spotlight Challenges a win, but many are unhappy with the Pink Diamond card. It’s been compared to other player cards that have better grades in specific areas. An EVO card may have been the way to go, to give players the ability to upgrade it to a Galaxy Opal through various achievements.
