NBA 2K20 Roster Update: Classic, All-Time Teams Get New Players Including Chris Bosh and Tony Allen

As of Wednesday, January 8, an NBA 2K20 roster update has arrived in which new players were added to the Classic and All-Time rosters. Amongst the players joining the mix are Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors All-Star Chris Bosh, Dallas Mavericks champion Jason Terry, and former Orlando Magic star Jameer Nelson.

NBA 2K20 roster update brings new stars to rosters

The most notable of new stars in the NBA 2K20 roster update is Chris Bosh. The 11-time All-Star played for seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors and six seasons with the Miami Heat. In Miami, he achieved two NBA Championships alongside fellow All-Stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Bosh has been out of the league since 2015-16 and is now on three teams. He joins the All-Time Heat, 2012-13 Heat, and All-Time Raptors rosters.

Joining him is Jason Terry, as he’s now part of the All-Time Mavericks and 2010-11 Dallas Mavericks rosters. Terry achieved an NBA Championship during that 2010-11 season along with veteran Jason Kidd and All-Star leader Dirk Nowitzki.

Also pictured in the tweet that arrived from NBA 2K20 are former Orlando Magic star Jameer Nelson (All-Time Magic) and Tony Allen for the 2007-08 Boston Celtics squad. Allen was a key member of that NBA Championship team which also featured stars Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett.

The NBA All-Time teams first arrived in NBA 2K18, bringing gamers the option to use teams for each franchise which mostly had their best players from history. They continue to be a fun part of the NBA 2K20 rosters, allowing for matchups between teams of today and yesterday, or battles for all-time team bragging rights.

Charles Barkley, other stars still missing

Many gamers are applauding Chris Bosh joining the rosters. However, with the new additions, also come questions from the gaming community involving some stars still lacking in the game. They include all-time greats Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller, both of whom are absent from all-time teams such as the Sixers, Suns, Rockets, and Pacers.

There are player likeness and rights issues going on when it comes to bringing in certain stars. Barkley has famously been absent from the 2K basketball video game world for years.

The National Basketball Retired Players Association (RPA) has an agreement with 2K giving the gaming company rights to use former player likenesses. However, not all players agreed to be part of the RPA’s agreement, including Barkley, per For the Win.

Another player often mentioned is Rasheed Wallace, a former star with the Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers. According to at least one PC player, it’s possible to have him as part of the game on that platform along with other “missing players.”

In addition to those popular mentions, the community is also bringing attention to the lack of Utah Jazz guard Deron Williams from an all-time team. There’s also the fact that Manu Ginobili now seems to be missing from the Spurs rosters.

It’s possible that since Ginobili retired he may not be a part of the RPA agreement. Perhaps those players will be addressed in a future NBA 2K20 roster update for the Classic and All-Time teams.
