NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 9 Details: Out of This World to Feature Space Jam, G.O.A.T. Cards, and Dr. J Invincible Reward
The final season of NBA 2K21 MyTeam is on the way and will bring a variety of new events, content, and rewards for gamers to acquire. Based on the reveal details, this is a final three-week season for the mode and brings a top reward at Level 40 of the great Julius “Dr. J” Erving. It also will feature the first G.O.A.T. cards of 2K21. In addition, NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 9 will have a Space Jam theme with four special cards based on the upcoming film’s stars.
NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 9: Out of This World Packs feature Space Jam Dark Matter cards
The final days of Season 8 are wrapping up. Many gamers earned that Luka Doncic Reward, or are very close to it. On Friday, July 16, a brand new journey starts with NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 9, called Out of This World. It will bring four cards based on players from Space Jam: A New Legacy, the LeBron James reboot/sequel to the MJ original.
Per 2K’s Courtside Report, the cards will be available in the first packs released, called Out of This World packs. There will be four Dark Matter cards featuring stars from the upcoming Space Jam film.
They include the movie’s top star LeBron, along with teammate Anthony Davis, 2K21 cover star Damian Lillard, and the Warriors’ Klay Thompson. These cards will have artwork based on the Space Jam film right on them for a unique touch.
In addition to those four cards, the packs will feature some “other stars of the silver screen.” Based on that hint, we could see new cards for players like Penny Hardaway, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaquille O’Neal, among others.
Gamers will be able to earn a free Out of This World Deluxe Pack out of the gate by beating the Triple Threat Challenge featuring LeBron and the Goon Squad. They recommend using the code EVO-LEBRON-JAMES to pick up a LeBron to use for the Challenge if you need one and don’t have this already.
G.O.A.T. cards and MT Rewards
There will also be the first G.O.A.T. cards released during the NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 9. The first two will honor all-time legends Michael Jordan and LeBron James. These cards feature 99 ratings across the board and “complete Hall of Fame Badges.” There hasn’t been any indication as to when these cards will arrive, so stay tuned.
As with other seasons, there will be various Invincible Reward cards. At 150,000 XP which is Level 40, the NBA 2K21 MyTeam Season 9 reward is Julius Erving Invincible.
Other Invincible rewards are as follows:
- Limited: Toni Kukoc
- Unlimited: Ray Allen
- Ascension: Dennis Rodman
- Triple Threat Online: Grant Hill
- Triple Threat Vault: Jerry West
- Reward for 2,000 Triple Threat Wins: Russell Westbrook
The Courtside Report mentions a Hakeem Olajuwon Invincible will be in the reward market. There’s no limit on redemptions for the card.
Last but not least, earning 99 Stars in NBA 2K21’s Domination will earn a Vince Carter Dark Matter Invincible card. Gamers will take on 33 teams based on cards released this year. Other rewards include DM Iverson at 33 Stars and DM Paul Pierce at 66 Stars.
