NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition for PlayStation 5 Could Use 150GB of Storage Space

When NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition arrives for Sony PlayStation 5 in just a few days, PS5 gamers should expect it to take up lots of space. Based on recent reports, the game will use up 150 gigabytes of storage space. That’s a good bit of the total space available with the SSD, leaving gamers with some planning to do if they decide to get lots of PS5 games.

NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition storage space for PS5 revealed

On Tuesday, November 10, the Microsoft Xbox Series X/S console officially launched. It meant those who pre-ordered it online, or found it in stores finally got their hands on the next-gen system. That also meant that NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition launched for that console. Just a few days ago, VGR reported that the game would require over 120 GB of storage space on Xbox Series X/S.

Now, a tweet has arrived indicating that it’ll take even more space for the PlayStation 5. Based on a tweet that referenced a Reddit thread, the game could require up to 150 GB on the PS5. That eats into the total of 667 GB the console has available, according to the tech specs.

According to PushSquare’s report, the screenshot and storage details arrive after a gamer received their copy of NBA 2K21 for PS5. They also indicate that it’s possible the installed version won’t take up 150 GB, but even at 100 GB it would still be a lot of storage space for one game.

PushSquare notes that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War requires 133 GB of the SSD space on PS5. That would mean anyone who installs both COD and 2K21 would have already used up about 42 percent of the total SSD space.

With the Xbox Series X/S, we noted there was an extra SSD available for more space, but at a cost of over $200. There’s no option to store games on any sort of external drive for PS5, but that may happen in the future.

The NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition officially arrives for PlayStation 5 on Thursday, November 5.
