2K Confirms NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Release Date as PS5, Xbox Series X Launch Title

With NBA 2K21 currently in rotation on the current-generation consoles, many fans are waiting for the next-gen consoles before they get the game. There also those who have the Mamba Forever Edition of 2K21 which gives them the free next-gen upgrade. However, there had yet to be any announcement of when the game would arrive other than “later this year.” Now, there are official NBA 2K21 next-gen release dates for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S along with a new screenshot.

What are the NBA 2K21 next-gen release dates?

Sony and Microsoft announced their next-gen console release dates over the past several weeks along with prices. Pre-orders also started up at various retailers online, with the consoles quickly becoming pre-ordered to the point they couldn’t any more. Occasionally, a retailer may indicate they’ll offer more pre-orders.

With that said, NBA 2K revealed that the NBA 2K21 next-gen release dates, which confirm they are launch titles for both consoles. The game will be available for Microsoft Xbox Series X or S consoles globally on November 10.

NBA 2K21 will be available for the Sony PlayStation 5 consoles on November 12 for the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. The rest of the world will have to wait until November 19 for the NBA 2K21 PS5 game. It’s the same deal with the consoles themselves.

NBA 2K officially confirmed the release date details with a new screenshot of next-gen cover star Zion Williamson.

Pre-orders are already live for the next-gen version of 2K21. Customers can opt for the Standard physical edition or digital edition at $69.99, which is $10 more than the current-gen version costs.

There’s also the option to pre-order the Mamba Forever Edition for the next-gen consoles. It carries a price of $99.99, which is the same cost it has for current-gen. With that in mind, gamers who have a current-gen console would be best off ordering Mamba Forever Edition to have it ahead of time.

Other next-gen console, 2K21 details so far

In addition to the newest NBA 2K21 next-gen release dates, we’ve already seen a next-gen trailer featuring Zion Williamson. That showed off the next-gen gameplay just a bit, though.

Zion is the cover star for the next-gen version of the game, deviating from the Current Generation cover star Damian Lillard. It makes sense as Zion has been billed as a leader of the next generation of NBA superstars.

The Xbox Series X carries a price of $499, while the lower-priced Xbox Series S is $299. The Series X has a faster processor, more memory, and double the storage of the Series S.

Series X will also have the ability to play CDs, Blu-ray, DVDs, and game discs, while Series S only offers digital.

The Sony PlayStation 5 comes in a $499 base model which allows for playing various discs, or customers can opt for a $399 digital-only version.

In addition, it’s good to know that gamers’ progress on the NBA 2K21 MyTeam mode is supposed to carry over from current-gen to next-gen consoles, of the same variety. (PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series S/X).
