NBA 2K21 Patch Update 1.04 Adds 2K Beach Halloween Theme, Improved Player Likenesses, and More

Just in time for trick or treat season in October, 2K has released the new NBA 2K21 patch update 1.04 notes. The update is about current-gen, but also will help as 2K prepares for the transition to next-generation gameplay and graphics. Amongst the new additions include a special Halloween theme for the Neighborhood, improved player likenesses, and more.

NBA 2K21 Patch Update 3 – General changes include updated 2K Beach Theme

Thanks to the NBA 2K21 patch update 1.04, the 2K Beach Neighborhood has now received some festive Halloween decorations. Pumpkins are arranged around storefronts and near outdoor courts. There’s a large pumpkin spray painted on the ground mural at 2K Beach and that familiar witch flying back and forth on the wire up above the Neighborhood.

Outdoor courts also have orange and black color schemes to celebrate the holiday season. A special Halloween-themed event, “Trick or Trivia” is amongst the billboard advertisements as well.

As we just saw in yesterday’s NBA 2K21 next-gen trailer, players are looking more realistic than ever. In conjunction with that footage, 2K said they improved more than 60 NBA and WNBA players’ likenesses with this new update.

For the Quick Play mode, they made the default matchup the Miami Heat versus Los Angeles Lakers in honor of the current NBA Finals matchup.

There were also the following gameplay updates:

  • Adjustments to make set screen movement more realistic.
  • Fixed content holes that led to inconsistent side step pull-up jump shots.
  • Changes to Shot Aiming system to prevent modded controller abuse.
  • Park dribble moves (still performed with L3) now require Hall of Fame Tight Handles badge to use. Also disabled park dribble moves when calling for screens to prevent conflict with switch screen side function.

Updates for MyCareer, MyTeam, and MyLeague/MyGM modes

Reportedly, the NBA 2K21 patch update 1.04 introduced by Visual Concepts on Wednesday was approximately 28 gigabytes in size. It not only introduced the general aspects up above but also various fixes or improvements across other modes.

There were just two fixes for MyCareer. One of those involved a MyPlayer not being able to win over new fans after achieving certain in-game feats. The other was a fix for a possible hang when players exited MyCOURT after playing either 2v2 or 3v3 games.

In MyTeam, they began preparations for the $250,000 MyTeam Unlimited Tournament GameDay. Also, they began preparations for the second season of MyTeam, which will follow Season 1 – One Will Rise. They also made general improvements to The Exchange, where players can trade in different types of cards for other items in MyTeam.

Check out a few of the other fixes below via the 2K patch update notes:

MyTEAM

  • Added warning when skipping silver or gold Badge Upgrades for Hall of Fame Badges.
  • Addressed an issue when player cards appeared on Ball Drop boards.

MyLEAGUE / MyGM

  • Fixed an issue where the incorrect logo may appear from downloading other user’s save via the new Save Sharing feature.
  • Fixed a hang that was occurring in Play WNBA or NBA Today after being in WNBA Season mode.
