In a recent reveal, NBA 2K showed off at least two classic NBA 2K21 Team USA basketball squads will be in the game. The announcement arrives just days ahead of the game’s official release date, as many gamers prepare to check out the various offerings. We’ve seen a few of the new Classic Teams in the game, and it appears there will be several iconic Team USA rosters as well.
Which NBA 2K21 Team USA basketball squads will be in the game?
Over the weekend, 2K revealed they’ll have several new Classic Teams that won the NBA Championship in the past five years. In the latest NBA 2K social media posts we get a look at two playable NBA 2K21 Team USA basketball squads featured in the game. We see just the five players for each of the teams, but they look to be stacked.
One of them is the 2012 squad featuring a ferocious five consisting of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, James Harden, and Chris Paul. That particular dream squad also features the Mamba himself, Kobe Bryant. In addition, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Andre Iguodala, Deron Williams, Anthony Davis, and Tyson Chandler are all part of the roster.
We also see the 2016 Team USA players. Carmelo Anthony is front and center with Klay Thomspon, Paul George, Draymond Green, and Kyrie Love also featured. The 2016 roster also included Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Harrison Barnes, DeMarcus Cousins, and DeAndre Jordan.
Mike Krzyzewski, the coach of the Duke Blue Devils and NBA next-gen cover star Zion Williamson, coached both Olympic teams. Each of these NBA 2K21 Team USA squads took home the gold in their respective Summer Olympics.
Fans hoping for other classic squads
Just two NBA 2K21 Team USA basketball squads were revealed, so far. It has plenty of fans considering other possibilities too. Unfortunately, for many years 2K has been unable to bring certain stars into the game. In particular, they are the great Charles Barkley and three-point sharpshooter Reggie Miller.
Barkley played for the famous 1992 Dream Team which featured star players Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, among others. In addition, he was part of the 1996 squad. While that trio of stars wasn’t on the roster, it included Shaquille O’Neal, Karl Malone, and Reggie Miller.
It would be a major surprise if 2K somehow was able to bring both Barkley and Miller in for the NBA 2K21 Team USA basketball rosters. That said, most fans are more interested in other competitive modes in the game such as MyCareer and MyTeam.
The new NBA 2K game arrives on Sept. 4, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and Windows PC. A next-gen version arrives later this year for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
