With the recent unveiling of the upcoming WNBA content for NBA 2K21, they began to drop updated ratings for the league’s players. That included top stars such as Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, and Candace Parker, some of whom gave their reactions. In particular, Stewart received the highest of the NBA 2K21 WNBA player ratings as she recently won her second championship and Finals MVP award.
Stewart, Parker react to NBA 2K21 WNBA player ratings
Breanna Stewart is officially the best of the best when it comes to NBA 2K21 WNBA player ratings. On Thursday (October 29), she was awarded a 95 overall. That is a notch higher than fellow players Candace Parker and Aja Wilson. Ronnie 2K spoke with Stewart on a video chat to get her reaction to being atop the NBA 2K21 WNBA player ratings.
“To be honest I feel great about that,” Stewart said. “I think that when I was looking at KD’s rating and I knew we were gonna do this, I think his dipped a little bit..so I was like so mine’s gonna go down, but hopefully it goes up.”
She went on to add that she wants to try to keep pushing her rating up. Stewart mentioned possibly going to a 96 or 97 by the time the next season is over.
The Los Angeles Sparks’ Candace Parker is also a former WNBA Champion in 2016 and WNBA Finals MVP. In addition, she was WNBA MVP for two seasons (2008, 2013) Parker received a rating of 93 overall for the game, ahead of the next-gen WNBA content.
Parker was able to correctly guess her rating when speaking to Ronnie 2K on video chat. She admitted she listened to her nephew’s opinion on what she would be rated at.
“I definitely think I have more in the tank to give in my 14th year next season..so, for sure, I definitely think I should be higher, but we’ll see, time is gonna tell,” Parker said of the rating.
Other OVRs given out for Bird, Taurasi, and Wilson
Several other WNBA stars received their overall ratings during Thursday’s reveals. That included a player often considered one of the greatest of all time in the league. The great Diana Taurasi was awarded a 91 overall for NBA 2K21 WNBA ratings, though. It’s been a while since Diana was dominating the competition. Still, she has three titles and is the all-time scoring champion.
Taurasi is amongst the many talented players to have come out of Geno Auriemma’s UCONN program. Another former UCONN star, Sue Bird, who is also Breanna Stewart’s teammate, received her rating via video chat. Ronnie 2K informed her she’s an 86. Sue admitted it sounded a lot like her “high school report card.” Basically, she isn’t too familiar with the 2K name but also said she knows players complain when they’re not in the 90s.
Last but not least is Aja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. She actually moved up to a 94 overall for the NBA 2K21 WNBA ratings, which is second to Breanna Stewart.
“You know that’s improvement, I’m grateful for the 94. Like I said, the biggest thing is just improvement from that 89,” Wilson said of her improvement from her previous rating.
The new WNBA player ratings were revealed as NBA 2K21 next-gen is on the way next month. Thursday brought news of the WNBA MyPlayer option, MyWNBA Franchise mode, and The W Online mode, which will all be featured in the Next-Gen Edition.
