NBA Live 19 Rosters: How to Update Pelicans, Lakers Players After Anthony Davis Trade

Big news shook the basketball world on Saturday although a lot of fans may have seen it coming. In the past week, reports began to pop up that the New Orleans Pelicans were listening to offers for their All-Star Anthony Davis. The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers became top teams in discussions. Then, on Saturday, the Lakers made the deal they’d wanted last season. With the Anthony Davis trade, a gamer has already shown what the NBA Live 19 rosters look like for both teams.

NBA Live 19 rosters: Lakers add Davis, Pelicans add Lonzo Ball & more

In most fans’ minds, the biggest part of the trade was Anthony Davis joins the Los Angeles Lakers. That puts him on the Lakers next season alongside top tier superstar LeBron James. The pair is expected to be quite good, to the point Vegas odds already have the Lakers as favorites to win the NBA Championship next season. In the NBA Live 19 game, that gives the Lakers Lebron at 96 overall and Davis right behind him as a 95 overall. Not bad!

The New Orleans Pelicans added three new players with the deal, along with several draft picks. The team now has the No. 1 and No. 4 picks in this coming Thursday’s NBA Draft. They’ve also added Lonzo Ball (83 OVR), Josh Hart (78), and Brandon Ingram (82 OVR) to their roster in the deal with the Lakers. That could form quite a young core heading forward as they’re also looking to draft Duke’s Zion Williamson at No. 1 and who knows which talent at No. 4 if they keep the pick.

The NBA Live 19 rosters get regular updates from EA, with the most recent one this past Thursday. The new player moves should be on the way, but it’s hard to say when right now. The trade isn’t official until July 1, but ESPN has already put Anthony Davis and the other players on their respective rosters, so the trade is all but official. You can also make the moves yourself if you want to test the new players out in the game.

How to update the Lakers and Pelicans in NBA Live

From the main menu, scroll down to choose “Rosters.” On the Roster Hub you’ll want to “Edit Active Roster File.” It will take a little bit to import the latest roster so you can begin the edits. Choose “Edit Active Roster File” on the next screen.

  • To navigate between teams hold down the L2 (on PS4) and then scroll to the team you want to choose, i.e. the Lakers or Pelicans.
  • Choose the Pelicans first and then Anthony Davis by pressing X button on PS4 to “View Player Card”.
  • Scroll over to choose “Assign Player” on his card.
  • Navigate to the Lakers and add Davis, making sure there’s at least one open roster spot. If not, you’ll need to go to the Lakers and move one of their players to Pelicans first.
  • Continue these “Assign Player” steps with the Lakers players (Ball, Hart, Ingram) to add them to New Orleans.
  • Once you move out of the screens you’ll get back to the Roster Hub so make sure to “Save Active Roster File.”
  • For good measure, choose “Load Roster File” and make sure to load the one you have with the new players.

Keep in mind with the above steps, teams need open roster spots to make the moves. You won’t be performing the actual trade, just moving the players between rosters. If you’d prefer for the game to make the moves itself, you may need to wait it out a few weeks before you see it happen.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are two of the top players in the game, real or virtual. So this move certainly boosts the Lakers’ NBA Live 19 roster. With recent rumors that projected Pelicans draft pick Zion Williamson was offered the NBA Live 20 cover, we’re wondering if something may be in store for AD. Perhaps Davis in a Lakers jersey on the cover would sell some copies?
