Curse of the Vampire Coast, the next upcoming DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2, is set to launch in less than two weeks’ time. The DLC brings an entire new faction, the undead crews of the Vampire Coast, complete with a roster of horrifying monsters. From Mournguls to Rotting Leviathans, the Vampire Coast are clearly not a faction for the faint of heart. In a new video, Creative Assembly have chosen to showcase one of the faction’s most dramatic new monsters; the Necrofex Colossus.
Necrofex Colossi in Vampire Coast Armies
“Forged from the splintered and rotting carcass of a long-sunk mighty galleon,” explains Creative Assembly; “the Necrofex Colossus is an abhorrent manufacturing of broken warship and rotting flesh”; This gross marriage of parts allows necromantic magic to animate the Colossi; turning them into shambling monsters on the battlefield. They are also filled to the brim with zombies. These automatically release as a unit once the monster reaches half health; an ability very reminiscent of the Skaven army’s Hell Pit Abomination.
Most significantly, however, each Colossus has one arm which ends in a set of cannons, allowing them to rain artillery fire across the battlefield; “The Necrofex Colossus brings earth-shaking firepower to the battlefield,” says Creative Assembly; “with its arm-mounted cannon, able to strike devastating blows from afar before crushing waves of enemies under its weight in close quarters.”
Players looking to field these horrifying units may wish to play as Count Noctilus, one of the Vampire Coast’s four Legendary Lords. As the ruler of the Galleon’s Graveyard; Necrofex Colossi in Noctilus’ army benefit from reduced upkeep costs and recruitment duration, as well as a bonus to weapon strength. The former von Carstein can even ride one a Necrofex Colossus into battle. Noctilus is a true tank of a Lord. In addition to his fearsome prowess in combat, he benefits from regeneration and the unbreakable ability. As a result, it seems a perfect pairing for him to ride into battle atop one of these towering horrors.
