Following the recently-announced delay to the start of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s second season, and the subsequent extension of Season 1, Infinity Ward has added a whole new weapon to the game; the new Modern Warfare Crossbow. This lethal and precise weapon is powerful enough to take down opponents with a single hit.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Crossbow
“Meet your new friend, the Crossbow,” writes Activision; “this super-sleek one-hit kill weapon is available to earn and add to your Modern Warfare arsenal. Visit the Marksman Rifles tab in the Loadout menu to find the Crossbow.”
To actually unlock this new weapon, you’ll need to complete a specific marksman rifle challenge. Once you do, then you’ll be able to wield this ruthless weapon on the battlefield. The Modern Warfare Crossbow is certainly one of the most distinctive new weapons to come to the game since launch. Certainly, it stands out more than the RAM-7 and Holger-26, the two new weapons which launched earlier in Season 1.
The Crossbow is being offered as part of the extra content in the new Season 1 extension period. However, it’s unclear whether this was always planned or whether this content was originally meant to be in Season 2 and is being used to fill an unforeseen delay. Infinity Ward and Activision have portrayed the recent events as an extension, although it is notable that this does also mean a delay to the start of Season 2. (Something which, quite possibly, may be no coincidence.)
It’s currently not known what other new content Infinity Ward will be bringing in Season 2. However, the extension isn’t actually for a very long period of time. Season 1 will now be ending on the 11th of February, so fans need only wait a couple more weeks. During that time, Infinity Ward is offering players 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression.
