CD Projekt Red Releases New Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots

Yesterday, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account teased that fans would soon hear something new about the upcoming title. Now, CD Projekt Red has revealed what at least some of that news is; the Polish studio have unveiled a new set of Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots which appear to depict scenes from the game’s privately-screened gameplay demo.

The Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots Are Assumed to be From the Game's Gameplay Demo

New Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots

The new screenshots were released by CD Projekt Red at Gamescom, which is currently taking place in Cologne, Germany. As the studio did at E3, earlier this year, CD Projekt Red also held a behind-closed-doors screening of a Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo. Unfortunately for fans, that screening was only shown to an audience of journalists and industry professionals. However, it appears that the screenshots which the studio has now unveiled were taken from that very demo.

Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots Highlight Action and High-Stakes Cutscenes

The new Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots showcase a number of scenes from the game; ranging from what appears to be a quieter cutscene to several tense, high-stakes scenarios. Several of the cutscenes feature the character Jackie Welles; presumed to be one of the game’s main characters and ally to V. He certainly seems to be working alongside V in the cutscenes; one shot shows the pair engaging in a standoff with heavily-armed gangsters. It’s currently unknown whether Cyberpunk 2077 will feature companion characters in the way that games like Fallout 4 and Skyrim have done. The Witcher did not feature any such characters, so it could simply be that Jackie joins the player on that particular mission.

New Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots Show Tense Standoff

Unfortunately, it seems that CD Projekt Red won’t be releasing gameplay footage publicly at Gamescom, as some fans had hoped. It’s unknown exactly when the studio plans to do so. Although Cyberpunk 2077 has been one of the most-hyped games since E3, the game still has no confirmed release date. It’s not even sure that the game will release in 2019.
