New Daymare 1998 Trailer From Canceled Resident Evil 2 Remake Fan Team

There is a new Daymare 1998 now available, showing off the story and teasing more of the gameplay. This game comes from the fan team who was developing the Resident Evil 2 Remake fan game before it was canceled. You can check out the entire spooky trailer below. It certainly bears a fair resemblance to the gorgeous official Resident Evil 2 Remake from Capcom.

Check out the Daymare 1998 story teaser trailer below for yourself. The game is currently set to release this summer for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It comes from indie Italian studio Invader Studios. The team initially formed to create Resident Evil 2 Reborn but that was canceled when the official remake was announced.

However, that didn’t stop the team as Daymare 1998 is on its way. Certainly showing its Resident Evil inspiration on its sleeve, it is a third-person survival horror game but the trailer definitely has a different tone. The voice over from the narrator and some of the elements certainly give off a slightly goofier or at least campier tone than even the Resident Evil series.

If you are worried about how good Daymare 1998 will be, it is worth noting that it is composed of more than 10 developers with some familiar advisors that you might recognize. Both Kazuhiro Aoyama, the director of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and Satoshi Nakai, a Resident Evil series lead designer, are advising the team on the upcoming project.

This certainly makes it possible that Daymare 1998 will be a worthy survival horror game in its own right. It certainly draws inspiration from the Resident Evil series in its looks, gameplay, and even characters. It looks as if you play as a member of the H.A.D.E.S. group, which draws parallel with Resident Evil’s S.T.A.R.S. Stay tuned for a release date and more info.
